Final Project
Over this semester, philosophy has both taught and helped me to better my education in many different ways. It has also given me another perspective on life as it is. throughout this Philosophy course, I have learned that even though you may have a different views, that it does not mean that other views are wrong. A few of my favorite topics that we covered were the views of Aristotle and Mencuis. Their views were very influential to me, mainly because they explain the human nature. They discuss the how our morals and beliefs work and how we come about them. Even though I do not agree with them on everything, I still have some of the same views as they do. One of my favorite things that Mencuis talked about was his example of human nature by relating it to water. He explained it how you cannot make water flow different ways, but you can guide it in different directions. I have never considered human nature like this so it was really fascinating to see that point of view.
Another thing that Aristotle talked about that I found very interesting, was his views on happiness and what it means to be happy. He talks about how there are three main things for happiness, wealth, political also known as honor, and pleasure. Aristotle goes on to explain how each of these contribute to happiness. Personally, I think that to live a happy life you have to have a balance of these three concepts, wealth, pleasure, and honor. You have to balance these out and try to avoid having too much of one kind. For example, too much honor may lead you to become arrogant, to too much wealth will cause you to see things and people based off their value.
